Potential of photography
1. A photograph can become more than just an image if it makes a connection with the person views it. If the photo sparks a memory or feeling in the viewer, it has become more than just a photo, it has become a portal into another world.
2. The size of a photo has a variable effect on the impact of the photo. Usually, a larger photo causes a greater effect, but bigger isn't always better. Sometimes a smaller photo will draw the eye if placed right, creating a greater effect.
3. The location and context of a photo has a large effect on its impact as well. A photo has to be placed in a spot that complements its subject. The location also effects the way we perceive the photo. If the photo is placed in a location associated with happiness, it will be more easily interpreted as a positive photo; on the contrary, if the photo is in a negative environment, it may be seen more easily as a somber composition.
4. JR's photos show the power and effect a little silliness can have. Installing pictures of laughing people in a war-torn area helps the mood of the whole area. JR's style of photography can help me be a better photographer because it shows that though a photo may seem out of place, that can help it to be more impactful and a better composition overall.
