Photographer report

1. Ansel Adams

2. February 20, 1902 - April 22, 1984

3. Ansel Adams was pulled out of school in 1915 because he hated the strictness of normal schooling.  the following summer, 1916, his family took a trip to Yosemite National Park, where he took his very first photo with the family camera.  Ansel would return to Yosemite every year for the rest of his life. In 1925, Ansel decided to become a pianist, so he bought a grand piano.  In 1927, Ansel Adams published his first portfolio, Parmelian Prints of the High Sierras.  He collaborated with Dorothea Lange in 1953on a Life commission for a photo essay on the Mormons in Utah.  In 1962 Adams moved to Carmel, California, where in 1967 he was instrumental in the foundation of the Friends of Photography. Ansel Adams died in April of 1984 at the age of 82.

4. Ansel Adams is famous for his photos of nature and National Parks.  His photos were stunning images of the natural beauty of the world around him, the western side of America.  Ansel was co-founder of the photography group, "f/64".  He also helped found the Department of Photography at New York's Museum of Modern Art, as well as consulting for the Polariod corporation.  He helped found the Center for Creative Photography at University of Arizona, where his archives were established.

5. I was attracted to Ansel's work by the way the natural beauty and life of the locations come out through his photos.  Ansel Adams is one of the greatest photographers of all time because of the way his photos capture the life and motion of a scene in just a fraction of a second.  The way his Compositions are planned and shot are a testament to his incredible eye for beauty.  From the grandest scene of mountains to a shot as simple as a single leaf, each scene is lined up and taken brilliantly.
